The Destiny of Missouri and the White/European Americans

Every week, intercessors pray for America, focusing on specific states and people groups while dedicating years within the next 50 to realignment with God's purposes. This week centers on the diverse people groups of the USA, with today's focus on White/European Americans — not only in Missouri but nationwide.

Current Family Status in Missouri Compared to the Nation's Founding

At America's founding, families were the bedrock of society — stable, biblically oriented units centered on covenant marriage between one man and one woman, multi-generational households, high fertility, and clear gender roles rooted in Scripture (Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:22–33). Divorce was rare and culturally stigmatized; single-parent homes were uncommon outside widowhood. Families emphasized discipleship through daily prayer, Scripture reading, and moral formation.

Today in Missouri, families show significant decline. The state's divorce rate hovers around 2.6 per 1,000 people, near the national average of about 2.4–2.5. Marriage rates have fallen nationally and in Missouri, with more people delaying or forgoing marriage. Single-parent households have risen dramatically since 1950 (from under 2% of children to nearly 25% by 2000). Missouri's population is about 6.19 million, with White (Non-Hispanic) residents comprising roughly 76–78% (around 4.72 million).

Discipling forces today include secular media, public education emphasizing progressive ideologies, social media, consumerism, and entertainment. Biblical discipleship has weakened in many churches, replaced by therapeutic or cultural relevance models.

Changes in Families and Their Impact

From covenantal to contractual; from child-centered to adult-fulfillment focused. Fertility has declined; cohabitation has risen. Divorce, same-sex marriage, gender confusion, and abortion have fragmented families:

  • Divorce: Erodes stability, increases poverty (especially for single mothers), and correlates with poorer outcomes for children in education, mental health, and future relationships.
  • Same-sex marriage: Legal since Obergefell (2015); Missouri recorded thousands cumulatively (e.g., 1,577 in 2016 alone). It redefines marriage away from biblical complementarity.
  • Gender confusion: Promotes fluidity, leading to confusion, medical interventions on minors, and family division.
  • Abortion: Missouri has strict laws post-Dobbs, with very low in-state numbers (often under 200–300 reported monthly in recent data, many residents traveling out-of-state). Nationally, it has devalued life and severed parent-child bonds.

These have increased brokenness, fatherlessness, and generational trauma. What can the righteous do when foundations are broken? (Psalm 11:3). Trust in the Lord, who is in His holy temple; pursue justice, pray, disciple families, rebuild altars of worship, and stand firm (Psalm 11:4–7; 2 Chronicles 7:14). Righteous action includes intercession, cultural engagement, and raising godly families.

Psalm 11:3–4 / 2 Chronicles 7:14
"If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord's throne is in heaven." — If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Uniqueness, Identity, and Destiny of White/European Americans

White/European Americans (primarily of European descent) total about 204 million identifying as White alone (61.6% in 2020), with non-Hispanic Whites around 191 million (56–58%). Their uniqueness lies in innovation, exploration, governance traditions (rule of law, limited government), artistic heritage, and Christian-influenced civilization-building from Europe.

Redemptive Gifts and Purposes

Pioneering spirit (exploration, settlement), creativity in science/technology, commitment to liberty and justice (influenced by biblical ideas of imago Dei), and missionary zeal. Their destiny involves stewarding freedom, advancing knowledge, and modeling covenantal society for global blessing (Genesis 12:3).

Bondages and Idols

Discipling influences: Historically Christianity; today, secular humanism, materialism, individualism, and progressive ideologies often supplant faith.

Bondages: Guilt/shame narratives around history, secularism, addiction (opioids in rural areas), family breakdown, and loss of identity.

Idols: Success/achievement, comfort, racial narratives (superiority or perpetual guilt), technology, and nationalism detached from God (per Tim Keller's framework of counterfeit gods like power, success, or moral self-righteousness).

Traditions and Tribes

Traditions: European folk customs, Christian holidays (Christmas, Easter), community festivals, emphasis on education, and pioneer resilience.

Tribes: English, German (largest ancestry groups), Irish, Italian, Scottish, Scandinavian, etc.

Redemption

  • Raise altars of worship to break veils of secularism and legalism.
  • Campaign for identity and destiny discovery — rooted in Europe's Christian heritage.
  • Redig roots: Connect to European forebears while embracing American calling.

The Puritans and Pilgrims sought a "city on a hill" — a godly society purified from corruption, governed by Scripture, with covenant community and moral order. This is the assignment for European Americans today.

Matthew 5:14

Missouri's Unique Destiny: The Spiritual Gateway

Missouri is called the "Gateway to the West" due to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis (630 feet, symbolizing westward expansion) and its role as departure for the Lewis and Clark Expedition (1804). The name "Missouri" derives from a Native American tribe meaning "town of the large canoes" or "muddy waters," tied to the Missouri River — symbolizing flow, journey, and passage.

Prophetic destiny: Missouri as a spiritual Gateway Arch — facilitating revival flow from East to West and back, pioneering faith movements. Lewis & Clark represent exploration and mapping uncharted territory for the Gospel. As a literal gateway for pioneers, it is called to be a spiritual gateway for awakening (Isaiah 43:19; 62:10).

Uniqueness: Central location ("Show-Me State" skepticism demands authentic faith); rivers as lifelines (Mississippi/Missouri confluence); agricultural heartland; blend of rural conservatism and urban centers (St. Louis, Kansas City). Scriptures: "Enlarge the place of your tent" (Isaiah 54:2) — expansion; "highway for our God" (Isaiah 40:3). Historical examples: Gateway for westward settlement; current events in agriculture/tech innovation. Practical: Prayer networks bridging regions.

Isaiah 43:19 / Isaiah 62:10
"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." — Pass through, pass through the gates! Prepare the way for the people. Build up, build up the highway! Remove the stones. Raise a banner for the nations.

Deviation from founding: From faith-based settlement to secular humanism, anti-biblical laws, and moral relativism.

Early revivals: Second Great Awakening influenced Missouri with camp meetings and evangelical growth; frontier revivals shaped its Protestant character.

  • Abortion: Restricted but some occur/residents travel; same-sex marriage legal with thousands recorded. Divorce as noted. Secular humanism and materialism prominent in cities.
  • Moves of God: Historical awakenings; pockets of charismatic/Pentecostal activity.
  • Witchcraft/occult: Present; various covens and occult scenes active.
  • Other religions: Christianity dominant, with growing nones and minority faiths.
  • Church of Missouri — compare to Revelation: Laodicea (lukewarm). Sin of Missouri: Compromise with culture, prayerlessness. Most committed sin: Idolatry of comfort/self.
  • Lifestyle: Midwestern practicality mixed with urban secularism; influenced by media and economics.

Major idols: Consumerism, sports/entertainment, political ideology, success — varying by group (Keller: money, sex, power as root). Leadership: Mix of conservative (rural) and liberal (urban). Influential figures shape toward pragmatism or progressivism. Festivals: Various music/cultural events in summer/fall — portals of influence; recognize as prayer altars.

Missouri's Revolutionary role: Battle of St. Louis (1780) defended the western frontier. Same role today: Spiritual defense against captivity — intercession as "second revolutionary war." Build a prayer web across counties as a state net to tear veils. Revival comes when the veil is torn.

The Veil and Declaration Over Missouri

The veil over people groups, youth, and the state — deception, shame, secular blindness, generational curses. Tear via unified prayer (2 Corinthians 3:16; 4:3–4).

Missouri will fully become the Spiritual Gateway Arch and Lewis & Clark for the next 50 years — pioneering revival, flowing living water, realigning to God's purpose.

John 7:38 / Isaiah 43:19

In the 50 days, 50 states, 50 years — pray that Missouri realigns. Raise altars, reconnect roots, disciple families biblically. The righteous arise (Psalm 11:3–7). God's destiny prevails. Build a prayer web across counties as a state net to tear veils. Revival comes when the veil is torn.

Declaration and Decree Over Missouri

Arise, Missouri — Open the Spiritual Gateway!
  • Missouri will fully become the Spiritual Gateway Arch — facilitating revival flow from East to West, pioneering faith movements for the next 50 years.
  • We declare that Missouri is a spiritual gateway for awakening — not captivity — and that every gate of hell shall be shut and every gate of heaven opened (Isaiah 43:19; 62:10).
  • We break every spirit of Laodicean lukewarmness, prayerlessness, and compromise with culture over Missouri's Church, in the name of Jesus.
  • We decree that the righteous arise and rebuild family altars across every county of Missouri, restoring covenantal families and discipling the next generation.
  • We declare that White/European Americans in Missouri reconnect to their Puritan/Pilgrim heritage — the city on a hill calling — and arise in covenant identity rooted in Christ, not comfort.
  • We loose living water (John 7:38) over Missouri — through its rivers, its Gateway Arch, and its prayer networks — as a sign and witness of the Lord's purpose.
  • We tear down every veil of deception, generational shame, secular blindness, and witchcraft over Missouri's people groups, youth, and families.
  • We decree that Missouri will be a "highway for our God" (Isaiah 40:3) — a prepared way of revival connecting all regions of America from East to West.

Prayer for Missouri and America

Father, we come before You on behalf of Missouri — the Gateway to the West, the Show-Me State, the land of the Gateway Arch and the great rivers. We acknowledge that You have placed a prophetic destiny upon this land: to be a spiritual gateway through which revival, reformation, and awakening flow from East to West across America.

Lord, we repent on behalf of Missouri for the deviation from founding covenantal values. We repent of the fragmentation of families through divorce, cohabitation, and the redefining of marriage. We repent of the shedding of innocent blood through abortion — lives lost and families fractured. We repent of the legalization and acceptance of that which Your Word calls abomination. Forgive us, Lord, and restore what the enemy has stolen.

We stand in the gap for White/European Americans — that they would be freed from the bondage of guilt and shame narratives, from secularism, addiction, and the loss of identity in Christ. Restore their Puritan and Pilgrim inheritance: the vision of a city on a hill, a covenantal people governed by Scripture. Let them arise in their calling to steward freedom, advance knowledge, and model covenantal society for global blessing (Genesis 12:3).

We pray for the spiritual atmosphere of Missouri to shift. Break the Laodicean lukewarmness. Break the spirit of prayerlessness and compromise. Tear down every occult stronghold, every coven, and every demonic altar. Build up prayer altars in their place, across every county, forming a statewide prayer web.

Lord, open Missouri as Your Gateway Arch — let revival flow through this state, from the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers into every corner of America. Let Lewis and Clark in the Spirit arise — intercessors, reformers, and pioneers who will map and take spiritual territory for Your Kingdom. Raise the highway for our God (Isaiah 40:3)! In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
