Land of 10,000 Lakes, strong Scandinavian faith heritage, and progressive influence. Today moral shifts and family breakdown. We consecrate Minnesota's believers: repent of coldness and social gospel distortions. Deliver every people group. Raise Minnesota as a northern lighthouse of purity and Kingdom compassion for the next 50 years.
The Destiny of Minnesota: A Call to Redemption for Families, People Groups, and the North Star State in Prayer and Revival
Every week we pray for specific items for America as a whole, a state, and dedicate a year in the next 50 years. This week we focus on the different people groups of the USA, today praying for the African Americans not only in Minnesota but in the whole USA. We examine family status, spiritual atmospheres, historical roots, and prophetic destinies, grounding everything in current data, history, and biblical truth. Psalms 11:3 asks, "If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?"—a fitting question for broken family and societal foundations.
Current Family Status in Minnesota Compared to America's Founding
At America's founding, families formed the bedrock—strong nuclear units rooted in biblical marriage (one man, one woman, Genesis 2:24), high fertility, low divorce, and intergenerational faith transmission. Pioneers emphasized covenantal marriage, child-rearing as stewardship, and moral formation. Divorce was rare; abortion and same-sex marriage were unthinkable legally and culturally. Families built communities with shared Protestant ethics.
Today in Minnesota, families face erosion. The state's divorce rate aligns with national trends around 2.4 per 1,000 population (U.S. overall), though Midwestern states like Minnesota tend lower in refined rates. National divorce affects about 40% of first marriages historically, with recent declines. Same-sex marriage, legalized in Minnesota in 2013, contributes to redefinitions of family. Abortion totals in Minnesota reached around 14,358 in 2024 (roughly 39 per day on average), with some months higher.
Families in Minnesota and the USA have shifted from covenantal, multi-generational models to individualistic, fragmented ones influenced by secular humanism, no-fault divorce (1970s onward), economic pressures, and cultural shifts. Discipling families today often falls to churches amid declining attendance, with many youth disengaging; African American communities frequently draw from strong church traditions but face modern pressures. Influences include media, schools promoting progressive ideologies, and economic stressors.
Impacts: Divorce correlates with poverty, emotional trauma, and cycles. Same-sex marriage and gender confusion challenge biblical sexuality (Genesis 1:27, Matthew 19:4–6), leading to identity confusion. Abortion ends lives and wounds families, contradicting "Thou shalt not kill" (Exodus 20:13). These weaken the social fabric.
"If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" Stand firm (Ephesians 6:13), rebuild on Christ (Matthew 7:24–27), disciple through churches, pray for revival, advocate righteous laws, and model covenant marriage. Righteousness exalts a nation.
Focus on African Americans: Uniqueness, History, and Redemption
Uniqueness: African Americans bring profound resilience forged through slavery, the Civil Rights Movement, cultural creativity (music, arts, literature), strong communal bonds, and spiritual depth rooted in faith amid adversity. They embody endurance, innovation, and a call for justice.
Discipling the African American: Historically, the Black Church has been central—preaching, community support, and gospel resilience. Today, it continues amid secular pressures, with many turning to vibrant Pentecostal and evangelical expressions.
Bondages and Idols
Bondages: Legacy of slavery, systemic racism, family breakdown, economic disparities, higher rates of single-parent households, substance abuse, incarceration, and spiritual strongholds like bitterness or syncretism. Modern issues include identity struggles and cultural influences pulling from biblical roots.
Idols of the African Americans: Material success, entertainment culture, political ideologies, or ancestral traditions over Christ; per Tim Keller frameworks, success, power, or racial identity as ultimate.
Redemptive Gifts and Purposes
Gifts in worship, intercession, prophetic justice (Amos 5:24), resilience mirroring Israel's exodus, leadership in revival, creativity, and reconciliation. Purpose: Heal national divides, model faith under fire (Revelation 7:9), and release spiritual power through gospel expression. Biblical parallel: God redeems nations and brings beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61).
Traditions
Gospel music, soul food, storytelling, family reunions, church revivals, Juneteenth celebrations, and vibrant worship with call-and-response.
Different Tribes of the African Americans in the USA
Primarily descendants of West and Central African ethnic groups (e.g., Yoruba, Igbo, Akan influences) brought via transatlantic slave trade; modern diversity includes African immigrants (Somali, Ethiopian in Minnesota) and Caribbean roots. Not "tribes" like Native groups but rich ethnic heritage.
African Time Has Come Back: A Prophetic Call for African Americans to Reconnect with Their Roots in Africa
African time has come back. A call to African Americans to come back to connect with their roots in Africa in the Africa Altar. The Africa Altar is held every year in the first week of September in Kampala, Uganda. The Africa Altar gathers African nations together in Kampala to lay strategically pray to fulfill the prophetic mandate upon Africa together (Isaiah 18; 19:19–25). Africans are midwives for nations to birth their destinies.
Africans are midwives for nations to birth their destinies — guiding, encouraging, cutting cords, and bringing forth life.
The Prophetic Mandate: Expounding Isaiah 18 and Isaiah 19:19–25
Isaiah 18 delivers an oracle concerning Cush — the ancient kingdom south of Egypt, encompassing regions of modern-day Sudan, Ethiopia, DRC and Uganda. The chapter describes a land "shadowed with buzzing wings, beyond the rivers of Cush," a powerful nation sending ambassadors. It signals God's attention to Africa as a key player in end-time purposes — not peripheral, but central to His redemptive plan.
"In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border. It will be a sign and a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt… In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria… In that day Israel will be the third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth, whom the Lord of hosts has blessed, saying, 'Blessed be Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.'"
The Altar in the Middle of Africa
This is not a minor footnote. God declares an altar — a place of sacrifice, worship, and encounter — right in the heart of Africa (symbolized by Egypt, the ancient power). Kampala, Uganda, geographically near the center of the African continent, becomes a strategic fulfillment point. This altar stands as a witness against oppression and for deliverance. It calls for repentance, restoration of true worship, and the tearing down of demonic altars that have held nations captive.
Africa to Build a Highway of Holiness
The "highway" (Hebrew mesillah — a raised, prepared road) connects Egypt (Africa), Assyria (representing ancient empires and broader Gentile nations), and Israel. This is not merely physical infrastructure but a spiritual highway of holiness, reconciliation, and free movement in the Spirit (Isaiah 35:8). It breaks cycles of enmity, enabling worship together. Africa plays a bridging role — healing divides between continents and peoples, facilitating end-time unity under the Lordship of Christ. This highway leads to an end-time harvest: multitudes from Africa and the diaspora streaming to God, bringing their glory into the Kingdom (Revelation 7:9; Isaiah 60).
Examples of Fulfillment and Birthing
- Historical: The Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8) — an African official encountering the Gospel and returning home — was an early seed of this highway.
- Modern: Waves of African revival (e.g., Uganda's own history of martyrdom and renewal under Idi Amin, or the East African Revival) have sent missionaries globally. African churches today plant vibrant congregations in Europe and America, reversing missionary flows.
- Diaspora: African Americans returning through business, missions, or pilgrimage (e.g., visiting ancestral sites in Ghana, Nigeria, or attending gatherings in Uganda) mirror the "tribute" of Isaiah 18:7.
Discipling African Americans: The historic Black Church remains key, but reconnection to African roots through prayer altars strengthens this.
Africans as Midwives for Nations
Africans are midwives for nations to birth their destinies. Like a midwife assists in delivery — guiding, encouraging, cutting cords, and bringing forth life — Africa and her children (including the diaspora) help nations enter their God-ordained purposes. Through intercession at altars like Kampala, they release spiritual births: revival in America, reconciliation in divided lands, and harvest among unreached peoples. Practical examples include African intercessors praying for U.S. elections or European awakenings, and diaspora believers carrying fire back to ancestral lands.
African time has come back. African Americans, return to your roots — not in nostalgia but in prophetic obedience. Attend or connect with the September Altar in Kampala, where African nations gather. Repent of disconnection, embrace the highway of holiness, and partner in the end-time harvest. The altar in the midst of Africa stands ready. The highway is being built. The midwives are positioned.
Minnesota: Names, Uniqueness, Destiny, and History
Minnesota is called the North Star State (from motto L'Étoile du Nord), Gateway to Heaven (prophetic openness to spiritual moves), and Land of Living Waters (10,000+ lakes symbolizing Holy Spirit flow, John 7:38). Raise Minnesota as the north star for the next 50 years—guiding the nation in moral clarity and revival.
Name Meaning and Destiny: "Minnesota" from Dakota Sioux "Mni Sóta" meaning "cloudy water" or "sky-tinted water." Tied to destiny as a place of clarity amid clouds—guiding light (North Star, Matthew 5:14–16) and living waters (Holy Spirit outpouring). Prophetic destiny: Beacon of hope, revival gateway, provider of spiritual nourishment. Connect every name: North Star as Christ-led guidance (Revelation 22:16).
Uniqueness: 10,000+ lakes, Scandinavian heritage, progressive policies mixed with heartland roots. Unlike coastal states, it bridges Midwest values and innovation. Scriptures: Star for direction (Numbers 24:17); waters for revival (Ezekiel 47). Practical: Agricultural and tech hub with history of social reform.
Deviation from Founding: Founded on faith, hard work, and opportunity. Deviated through secular humanism, liberal policies on social issues, and complacency in spiritual matters.
Early Revivals: Minnesota earned a "Revival State" moniker with moves from 1860–1960, including Lutheran awakenings, Holiness revivals, and Pentecostal influences. Strong church foundations shaped culture.
Current Spiritual Atmosphere
Nones around 28–30% nationally, similar or higher in Minnesota's urban areas. Anti-biblical laws on abortion (permissive), same-sex marriage (legal since 2013), and secular humanism rising. Religions: Christian majority (Protestant/Catholic, strong Lutheran heritage) but declining; nones growing.
- Divorce/Same-Sex/Abortion: Divorce follows national ~2.4/1,000; abortions ~39/day average in 2024 (~14,358 yearly). Same-sex marriages established with ongoing numbers.
- Moves of God: Historical revivals; recent pockets of charismatic renewal.
- Level of Witchcraft: Significant neopagan community ("Paganistan" in Twin Cities), with thousands of practitioners and covens; influential occult scenes.
- Idols per Timothy Keller: Comfort, autonomy, political correctness, material prosperity, or nature/idolatry in progressive culture.
- Most Committed Sin: Idolatry of self/autonomy, sexual immorality, indifference.
- Lifestyle: Friendly "Minnesota Nice," outdoorsy (lakes, seasons), influenced by Scandinavian roots, progressive urban culture (Minneapolis), media, and economic stability—mix of community and secular individualism.
Leaders as Priests: Minnesota leadership leans liberal/Democratic (e.g., Governor Tim Walz influence). Founding figures shaped opportunity; current influencers push progressive directions (social policies, climate). Most influential festival: Minnesota State Fair (late August into early September/Labor Day) — month of gathering, portals of influence; the church should claim this as an altar month for prayer.
People Groups in Minnesota
Major Idols per Group: Materialism/complacency (Whites), cultural/ancestral (African Americans/Natives), secular success (Asians), etc.
Minnesota's Role: Minimal direct role in Revolutionary War (pre-statehood territory). Same role today: Spiritual "second revolution" as North Star guiding against captivity — intercession, revival gateway for the nation.
The Veil and Prayer Web
The veil covering people groups (especially African Americans/youth), families, and Minnesota: Deception, historical trauma, secular humanism, idolatry, spiritual blindness (2 Corinthians 4:3–4). Revival requires tearing the veil through unified prayer (Hebrews 10:19–20).
In the 50 days/states/years initiative, pray for Minnesota to realign to God's purpose. Build a prayer web across all 87 counties, linking nationally—unceasing prayer to tear strongholds. Repent spiritual drought, raise Minnesota as North Star/guide for provision and awakening for 50 years. Consecrate families and people groups. African American redemption keys national healing through justice and gospel power.
Minnesota, arise in your North Star destiny! Holy Spirit flow as living waters. Righteous, rebuild foundations on Christ. America, redeem the people groups through prayer and obedience.
Minnesota — Bethel of America, Gateway to Heaven
Minnesota, your very name reveals your identity and destiny. Derived from a Dakota word meaning "sky-tinted water," "cloudy water," or "water that reflects the sky," your name points to heaven. You are known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes (with over 11,000 lakes of significant size) and the North Star State. Your motto is "L'Étoile du Nord" — "The Star of the North." Everything about you — your waters, clouds, and guiding star — speaks of the heavens and the firmament.
In Genesis 1:6–7, God created the expanse to separate the waters below from the waters above. Water covers much of the earth, fills our bodies, and fills the atmosphere. During Noah's flood, waters came from both below and above. Minnesota's vast lakes reflect the sky, showing that you are a spiritual portal, a gateway to heaven, and a place where heaven can touch earth.
Just as Jacob encountered an open heaven at Bethel, declaring, "This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven" — so Minnesota is called to be the Bethel of America. "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea."
As the waters cover your land, so you are called to cover the nation with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as Habakkuk 2:14 declares. Minnesota, you are a well of living water. You are called to re-dig the spiritual wells of America (Genesis 26), release living water that quenches spiritual thirst (John 4), and lead people into repentance and purification (Matthew 3:2, 4:17).
You are the North Star — a guiding light in darkness. Before modern navigation, the North Star (Polaris) provided direction and kept travelers from getting lost. In these confusing times, when a generation stands at the crossroads — where evil is called good and good is called evil (Isaiah 5:20) — Minnesota, you are called to provide clarity, direction, and godly guidance. Without wise leadership and vision, people perish (Proverbs 11:14; 29:18). You are to be a spiritual beacon, pointing the nation back to the true North: the Word of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Just as the star guided the wise men to the newborn King (Matthew 2:1–12), Minnesota, you are called to guide America and the nations back to Christ. You are spiritual warriors called to open heavens, contend in the spiritual realm (Ephesians 6:10–12; Daniel 10), tear down principalities, and release encounters with God. You are a hospitality hub — not just for scenic beauty, but for people to come and experience the presence and power of God.
Prophetic Declaration over Minnesota
- Minnesota, arise! You are the North Star State — shine brightly in the darkness!
- You are a gateway to heaven — open the heavens over America!
- You are a land of living waters — release the river of God that brings life, repentance, and revival!
- You are Bethel — become a place of divine encounter where heaven touches earth.
- From you shall come reformers, intercessors, and guides who lead this nation back to her godly foundations.
- Re-dig the wells! Release the knowledge of God's glory until it covers America as the waters cover your lakes!
- We declare that African American redemption keys national healing through justice and gospel power — arise in your prophetic gifting!
- We decree that the Africa Altar in Kampala connects diaspora to roots, releasing midwife anointing over the nations.
Prayer for Minnesota and America
Father, we thank You for this sacred season of prayer and fasting. We are not here to condemn or judge, but to stand in the gap for Minnesota and the entire United States of America. America carries a kingly mantle among the nations — a city set on a hill. Whatever affects America affects the globe. To influence the world, we must influence America. To disciple the nations, we must disciple America. And the greatest tool for discipling is prayer, because everything begins in the spirit realm.
Lord, give us deeper revelation of Minnesota and of this great nation. We pray in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lord, we repent for every way the enemy has corrupted Minnesota's redemptive gifts. We repent of the shedding of innocent blood through abortion — innocent blood that cries out like the blood of Abel (Genesis 4). Forgive us, Lord. We plead the blood of Jesus that cleanses and restores. You are the God of all flesh; nothing is too hard for You (Jeremiah 32:27). Reverse every death sentence and bring life!
We repent of laws and policies that legalize what Your Word calls abomination — including same-sex marriage and the promotion of LGBTQ agendas in schools and society. We repent of the legalization of recreational drugs such as marijuana, which opens doors to bondage rather than freedom. We repent of secular worldviews that have replaced the knowledge of God in education and culture, leading generations into confusion and spiritual thirst.
Forgive us for every corruption of Your purposes. Redeem the gifts You placed in Minnesota. Turn every gateway of hell into a gateway of heaven. Let the church arise as spiritual warriors who contend for open heavens, re-dig wells, and release living water.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the state of Minnesota. Thank You for designing her with thousands of lakes that reflect the sky, for calling her the North Star, and for giving her a destiny as a spiritual portal and well of living water. We bless the people of Minnesota — every race, tribe, and tongue — and we ask You to redeem every gift for Your glory.
Minnesota, you are a guiding star in a dark generation. You are a womb of encounters and revival. We dedicate you afresh to the Lord. We call forth the next Great Awakening from your soil. We pray for righteous laws to replace unrighteous ones. Let the knowledge of the glory of God cover America as the waters cover your land.
We stand in the gap as midwives and watchmen, declaring that Minnesota will fulfill her destiny and help lead the United States back to her covenant roots with God. In the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
