Palmetto State, Fort Sumter, Huguenot roots, and Southern hospitality heritage. Today tourism pressures and unhealed historical wounds. We consecrate South Carolina's people: repent of division and unforgiveness. Break personal and regional strongholds. Raise South Carolina as a Southern gate of hospitality, prayer, and reformation fire for the next 50 years.
Raising the 12 for Revival, Reformation, and Realignment to Divine Destiny
Every week in this strategic season of intercession, we focus prayers on the nation as a whole, a specific state, and dedicate a year within the coming five decades. Revival and reformation do not arrive as sudden miracles but through deliberate preparation and invitation. God moves where He is welcomed and readied, which is why intercession pairs with tangible actions that embody our petitions (Matthew 3:8). This Week 4 (June 4–10) calls forth the raising of the 12 — teams of committed disciples deployed across every sphere, county, state, nation, and continent.
The "Raising the 12" initiative forms a new priesthood of individuals yielded to God's present activity (John 5:17, 19), who heed the urgent summons of the hour (Ezekiel 22:30). Jesus transitioned the priesthood from the Levitical order to the Melchizedek pattern, bypassing the established Pharisees and Sadducees to launch anew with ordinary fishermen — as He is doing right now. The impending revival and reformation will be advanced by the seemingly nameless and insignificant in human estimation (1 Corinthians 1:25–27). Hebrews 7:12 declares that a change in priesthood necessitates a change in law. Nations change through intentional discipleship of youth and people across all societal spheres.
Current Family Realities in South Carolina Compared to the Nation's Founding
At America's founding, families stood as bedrock institutions rooted in biblical covenant, stability, and generational transmission of faith and virtue. South Carolina's early families, shaped by colonial settlement, emphasized community, faith, and resilience amid challenges. Today, South Carolina's family landscape shows strain amid national trends. Divorce rates have declined from higher historical peaks but remain notable: around 2.2–2.5 per 1,000 population in recent data, with roughly 10,000 divorces annually in earlier counts.
Same-sex marriage, legalized nationally since 2015, exists alongside ongoing cultural and legal tensions in the state. Gender confusion and related ideologies impact youth and families, while abortion persists despite restrictions. State-reported figures indicate thousands of procedures annually (e.g., around 3,000 in official 2024 data), equating to several per day on average.
When foundations crumble (Psalm 11:3), the righteous must arise: rebuilding through prayer, discipleship programs, youth mentoring, family strengthening initiatives, advocacy for biblical values in policy and education, and practical support like marriage enrichment, crisis pregnancy aid, and community altars. This restores God's intended order.
South Carolina's Unique Identity: The Palmetto — Spiritual Fortress of the Nation
South Carolina derives its name from "Carolina," honoring King Charles I of England (Latin Carolus meaning Charles), later formalized under Charles II. This royal lineage ties prophetically to kingship, authority, and covenantal governance — a call to righteous rule and spiritual leadership. Its destiny connects to pioneering resolve, hospitality, strategic gateways (coastal influence), and resilience in warfare, both physical and spiritual.
The Palmetto State evokes endurance. Our invisible God does visible things — and the palmetto tree is God's visible declaration of South Carolina's spiritual identity.
Romans 1:20 — Physical Creation Reveals Invisible Purpose"Palmetto" is a Spanish word meaning "little palm." This tree is very common along the northeastern to southern Atlantic coast. One of the most important features of this tree — and likely one of the main reasons the state is nicknamed the Palmetto State — is that it has deep and strong roots in the soil. Even in strong winds and storms, the tree bends but does not break. No storm is powerful enough to uproot it. It can resist any fierce wind or violent storm.
Whatever we see physically describes what that state or nation is in the spiritual arena. When you look at the palmetto tree, it gives us a clear picture of what the state of South Carolina is all about in the spiritual realm. This tree reveals the spiritual identity of South Carolina. At this time, when America goes through intense spiritual storms — winds of abortion, same-sex marriage, protests, and much more — we need the people of South Carolina to act as spiritual resistance, strengthening the roots.
We need the people of South Carolina to help re-fix and strengthen the spiritual roots of this nation and of the Carolinas. Both North and South Carolina were touched by the First and Second Great Awakenings. They were impacted by the revival waves that flowed from Azusa Street. So we urgently need the people of this state, to fix and strengthen the roots and the foundations. Psalm 11:3 asks, "If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" The roots need replanting. The walls need repairing and rebuilding.
The palmetto's spongy, resilient quality in battle: During the Revolutionary War, South Carolina patriots used palmetto logs to construct forts and strongholds. These spongy logs absorbed the impact of British cannonballs. One famous example was Fort Sullivan (later Fort Moultrie) on Sullivan's Island — these palmetto strongholds helped South Carolina and the American forces greatly during the fighting. As the palmetto logs were used to build strongholds and resist the enemy in the Revolutionary War, so in this hour God wants to use the people of South Carolina as spiritual strongholds against sin and evil.
There was also a particular group called the Partisans — a patriotic group of people in South Carolina who were willing to sacrifice everything to fight the British. Even the women were involved. While the men fought, the women worked in the gardens to grow food that sustained the fighters. Everyone had a role. Everyone was involved in the struggle. So it is in the Second Spiritual Revolutionary War.
Your state bird, the Carolina wren, sings boldly and persistently — a voice that rises even in difficulty. You are to release a persistent song of praise and intercession that restores the Tabernacle of David in the end times (Acts 15:16).
South Carolina's Revolutionary War Role and Prophetic Parallel
South Carolina played a pivotal role in the Revolutionary War, hosting over 200 battles — more than any other colony. Key victories like Sullivan's Island (1776), partisan campaigns by Francis Marion ("Swamp Fox"), Thomas Sumter, and Andrew Pickens, and battles at Cowpens and Kings Mountain turned the tide in the South, contributing decisively to independence.
You became the 8th state on May 23, 1788. At Fort Sullivan (later Fort Moultrie), palmetto logs helped patriots withstand British attacks. South Carolina was a major battlefield — a true cradle of the fight for liberty. This mirrors its prophesied role in a second spiritual revolutionary war: contending against captivity through prayer, tearing down strongholds, and reclaiming covenant foundations for the nation.
Current Spiritual Atmosphere, Challenges, and Strongholds
South Carolina ranks among America's most religious states, with about 77% identifying as Christian (higher than the national ~62%), dominated by Evangelical Protestants (~39%), Historically Black Protestants, and others. "Nones" stand lower than the national ~29%, around 16–20%. Yet secular humanism, anti-biblical laws, abortion, and same-sex marriage exert pressure.
- People groups in South Carolina (~5.4 million): White/European Americans (~63–65%); Black/African American (~25–27%, one of the highest percentages in the South); Hispanic/Latino (~6–7%); Native American, Asian, and all others.
- Moves of God: Historical awakenings and contemporary stirrings, such as reported revivals in Spartanburg and tent meetings across cities, signaling fresh outpouring.
- Witchcraft/occult: Exist in various forms with local practitioners and covens noted in upstate and coastal areas.
- Major idols (per Keller): Materialism and tradition among some; syncretism or occult influences in pockets; secular success or identity politics elsewhere.
- Strongholds: Division, racial wounds, materialism, and compromise in the church. Sin against the church includes losing first love, tolerating immorality, lukewarmness, failing to fully occupy the gates.
- Most influential festival: Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston (late May/early June) — championing arts, culture, and international exchange. The church should claim such seasons as altar months for consecration and reclaiming cultural mountains.
Leadership: South Carolina's leadership leans conservative, with Republican dominance. Influential figures guide toward tradition, faith, and prosperity, though national pressures test alignment. Yet the Church must arise with Kingdom mindset above partisan interests — functioning as spiritual partisans like Francis Marion's Swamp Fox, fighting from the swamps of intercession and prayer.
Realignment Through Prayer Webs That Tear the Veil
In the 50 Days, 50 States, 50 Years campaign, we seek South Carolina's realignment with God's purposes. Building a statewide prayer web connecting all counties forms a strategic altar network to dismantle veils blinding people groups, youth, and the state. This veil manifests as spiritual blindness, division, secular ideologies, historical wounds, occult coverings, and quenched Holy Spirit fire — hindering unity, revival, and discernment.
As the 12 are raised and remnants networked, South Carolina can fulfill its gatekeeper destiny: a bulwark of faith, hospitality to revival, and leader in spiritual reclamation for the nation's Jubilee.
Joel 2:1–12 / Ezekiel 37Tearing the veil requires unified fasting, repentance, discipleship, and strategic presence — releasing sight, healing, and then harvest. Practical discipleship strategies like youth programs, family altars, sphere influence, and county prayer hubs will sustain the momentum beyond events. May the Lord find a prepared people, birthing transformation that echoes founding covenants and advances His Kingdom purposes.
Spiritual Warfare and Prophetic Declarations over South Carolina
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we take authority over the spiritual atmosphere of South Carolina. We uproot, tear down, destroy, and overthrow every demonic altar, evil covenant, spirit of compromise, shallow root, perversion, death, and veil of deception covering this state, its people groups, and the nation. We dethrone every god of this land — spirits of abortion (Molech), sexual immorality, idolatry, division, and storm. We call for God's judgment upon them. We dismantle all evil altars, confuse and spiritually slaughter the priesthood of darkness, destroy every evil sacrifice by the blood of the Lamb, and declare all ungodly covenants null and void.
We bind the strongman and plunder his house! The veil is removed — let the palmetto spirit of unshakeable resistance arise in the Spirit! Like Fort Moultrie's logs absorbed British cannon fire, let South Carolina's Church absorb every spiritual assault and stand victorious!
Now we plant and build a godly worship system in South Carolina. Let pure worship and persistent intercession rise like the Carolina wren! Raise up spiritual partisans and patriots who build fortified altars of prayer that withstand every assault. Restore deep roots in the Word and the fear of the Lord. Let the Tabernacle of David be rebuilt through continuous praise and presence. Let the Church in South Carolina stand as a stronghold for the nation.
Prophetic Declarations
- South Carolina, Palmetto State — your roots go deep in God; you bend but do not break in the storm!
- You are a spiritual fortress and stronghold — absorb the enemy's fire and stand victorious, as palmetto logs absorbed British cannonballs at Fort Moultrie.
- The Church arises as spiritual partisans and patriots — rebuilding broken walls, restoring righteous foundations, fighting from the swamps of intercession like Francis Marion.
- Abortion altars are shattered; innocent blood is silenced; life is cherished and defended. Sexual immorality and gender confusion lose their grip; families are healed; unity and resilience prevail.
- The song of the Carolina wren becomes a persistent anthem of praise and intercession; the Tabernacle of David is restored.
- You will not miss your visitation! Enter your Jubilee, return to destiny, break every chain, and launch the Spiritual Revolutionary War with unshakeable strength.
- We repent. We reset. We rebuild on the foundations of the Puritans and the faith once delivered to the saints. The Spiritual Revolutionary War has begun!
- Let the palmetto spirit of resistance and restoration rise from South Carolina across the nation — from the seventh month, May 13 to July 4, the gates of deliverance and freedom are captured and possessed (Deuteronomy 16:16)!
Prayer for South Carolina and America
King Jesus, the God who plants deep roots and raises up strongholds in the day of battle, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We thank You for the faithful saints who have continued as watchmen on the walls during this 50 Days, 50 States Prayer Campaign. Today we lift up the great state of South Carolina, the Palmetto State.
South Carolina, your very name honors King Charles II, marking you as a land set apart and covenanted. You became the 8th state on May 23, 1788. Your nickname, the Palmetto State, comes from the resilient palmetto tree whose deep, strong roots and spongy logs allowed it to bend without breaking in fierce storms and absorb cannon fire during the Revolutionary War. At Fort Sullivan (later Fort Moultrie), palmetto logs helped patriots withstand British attacks. South Carolina was a major battlefield with over 200 engagements — a true cradle of the fight for liberty.
We pray for all people groups in your borders: White/European Americans (~63–65%), redeem gifts of leadership, resilience, and pioneering spirit from legalism or complacency. Black/African American (~25–27%, one of the highest percentages in the South) — release strength, worship, perseverance, and prophetic voice; redeem from cycles of brokenness or violence. Hispanic/Latino (~6–7%), Native American, Asian, and all others — let every tribe and tongue stand firm in the storm and contribute to the rebuilding.
Thank You, mighty Fortress and Root of our strength, for the destiny of South Carolina. Thank You for the resilient palmetto that declares deep roots and unyielding resistance, for the brave patriots and partisans who fought on her soil, for the rich heritage and diverse people You have placed here, and for the strongholds of prayer and worship You are raising in this hour. Thank You for hearing our cries and for the victory, restoration, and awakening that are coming. To You be all glory, honor, and praise! We wait upon You, Lord. Speak to Your servants. Release strategy, fresh fire, vision, and clear instructions for the days ahead. In the mighty, matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen and Amen!
Saints, continue standing on the walls. South Carolina, the Palmetto State is rising as a spiritual stronghold! Let deep roots hold fast, let resistance be fierce in the Spirit, and let the Spiritual Revolutionary War advance from your soil for the glory of God and the turning of many souls across South Carolina and America.
