May 17: The USA Rededication

The first time was May 17, 1776 — more than two months before the Declaration of Independence. On March 16, 1776, the Second Continental Congress (meeting in Philadelphia) unanimously proclaimed that Friday, May 17, would be observed throughout the 13 colonies as a "day of humiliation, fasting, and prayer." General George Washington issued orders to the Continental Army to observe it strictly as well.

The full congressional language called on Americans to "confess and bewail our manifold sins and transgressions," repent sincerely, "appease [God's] righteous displeasure," and seek "pardon and forgiveness" through "the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ." They asked God to frustrate Britain's plans and establish "the peace and freedom of America upon a solid and lasting foundation."

Today, on this same date in 2026, we cry out to God to frustrate the plans of the enemy: the LGBTQ agendas, the evil schemes of the beast systems, the devaluing of the dollar, the "no king" protests, all anti-biblical laws, the 10-point charter of Alice Bailey and the like.

This was not phrased as a formal "dedication of the nation," but it was a national act of collective repentance and turning to God at the very birth of the country — exactly the kind of covenantal act that modern observers (including the organizers of the 2026 event) describe as America's original spiritual dedication. Congress issued at least 16 such spiritual proclamations between 1775 and 1784, but May 17, 1776, stands out as the one tied directly to this date.

No other national dedications or rededications of the United States to God occurred specifically on May 17 in the intervening 250 years. The 2026 event — "Rededicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise & Thanksgiving" on the National Mall — is explicitly framed as the second time on this exact date: a rededication of America as "One Nation Under God" as part of our 250th anniversary. Gates open at 9:00 a.m., with the full program running 10:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m., featuring Scripture, worship, testimonies, speakers (including members of the Trump administration), music, and a solemn rededication moment.

Spiritual Significance of May 17

  • A day of renewing our covenant before God (2 Kings 23:21–23). Just as King Josiah restored the Passover — a feast that had not been kept with such fervor since the days of the judges — this is our moment to remove idols and restore the Word of God. We see this restoration happening even now through the recent White House-initiated "America Reads the Bible" marathon, where President Trump himself read from 2 Chronicles 7 in the Oval Office, and leaders across government, business, and faith publicly proclaimed Scripture from the National Mall and beyond. This day is a sign of the covenant between the USA and God (Exodus 31:16–17).
  • A day of remembering where we came from as a nation (Exodus 12:2, 14, 24–27; Deuteronomy 16:1–3). This generation has fallen into the same trap Israel did after entering the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 8:11–14): too much wealth and knowledge have blinded our eyes, causing us to forget the God who delivered us. What was done on May 17, 1776, must be remembered and repeated.
  • A call to return to our first love and ways as a nation (Jeremiah 6:14; Revelation 2:5).
  • A day that defines the USA, just as Passover defined Israel. It reveals the spiritual DNA of this nation — our identity and our God-given destiny.
  • May 17 marks a new season for the USA at Gilgal (Joshua 5) — a returning to the covenant, circumcision of the heart, and dedication of the next generation.
  • May 17 is the moment the President hands the nation over to the Church, because the Church is the agent of God's Kingdom on earth. Are we ready to steward this nation into her desired destiny in God? What will we do once the fountain of authority places this nation in our hands? Whatever happens next is not the President's or the politicians' responsibility — it is the Church's. That is why, if we are not careful and this nation enters judgment, it will begin at the house of God (Ezekiel 9:6). This is a prophetic warning to the American Church: if we do not pray and prepare the next president after Trump — because of what Trump has done in handing the nation back to the Church — the next leader could reverse it, turn America into the Babylon of this generation, persecute the Church severely, and corrupt the nations of the world even more wickedly than before.
  • A nation (or people) collectively humbles itself, confesses sin, repents, and renews its dependence on God. The 1776 proclamation and the 2026 rededication both echo 2 Chronicles 7:14 — "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal our land."
  • The goal is not political ritual but spiritual renewal — seeking God's pardon, protection, and providential blessing so the nation can be "a holy people" at this gate of Jubilee.

Physical / Practical Significance

1776: A literal day of fasting (no food), public prayer in churches and assemblies across the colonies, and solemn reflection. It unified the disparate colonies in a shared spiritual posture on the eve of war. Washington enforced it in the army "to incline the Lord… to prosper our arms."

2026: A massive public gathering on the National Mall with Americans from every state assembling in the nation's capital to visibly and audibly recommit the country as "One Nation Under God."

Some Christians hesitate because of what Trump may represent in the spiritual realm. Yet God in His sovereignty can use anyone. He raised up Pharaoh and Nebuchadnezzar; He called Cyrus "My servant" — none of them were believers in the full sense. Pharaoh was worshiped as a god; Nebuchadnezzar exalted himself. Let us embrace what Trump has done — especially this May 17 rededication — and repent of his any other side (1 Timothy 2:1–2).

Has It Ever Happened in the Bible?

Yes — Scripture repeatedly shows nations or God's people holding solemn days of national fasting, humiliation, confession, and rededication:

Solomon · 1 Kings 8 / 2 Chron 7

National prayer, sacrifices, and covenant renewal at the dedication of the Temple.

Nehemiah 9

The whole nation assembles, confesses sins, reads the Law, and renews the covenant.

Joel 2:12–18

A national call to "return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning."

Jonah 3 — Nineveh

The pagan city proclaims a fast; the king and people repent, and God relents from judgment.

Joshua 24

Public renewal of the covenant at Shechem.

Uganda · 2012

President Museveni publicly repented for the sins of the nation and dedicated Uganda to God. Many credit these acts with bringing relative stability.

Britain · 1756

A national day of fasting and prayer during the threat of French invasion. God delivered them, as recorded by John Wesley.

Lincoln · 1863

Called for national humiliation, fasting, and prayer amid the Civil War, seeking God's mercy on the divided land.

The 1776 and 2026 observances are modern American expressions of this ancient biblical pattern of corporate repentance and rededication.

In history beyond 1776, Congress continued issuing similar prayer-and-fasting proclamations throughout the Revolutionary War, but none were fixed to May 17 again. Later presidents (Adams, Lincoln, and others) called for national days of prayer or thanksgiving during crises, but the specific May 17 date and the "rededication" framing tie uniquely to the 1776 precedent and the 2026 event. No other May 17 national dedications appear in U.S. historical records.

In short: May 17 has been the chosen date for this kind of national turning to God exactly once in the past (1776), and the 2026 gathering is intentionally the second time — exactly 250 years later — on the same calendar day the founders first set aside for the purpose.

Why This Time? Are We Ready to Receive This Nation from the Hands of the Devil? How Are We Going to Steward This Nation?

The answer lies with the Church. Let us rise, pray, and take our place.

The Significance of Washington D.C.

Proverbs 4:23
"Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life."

Washington, D.C. is not merely the political capital of the United States — it is the heart of the nation and, by extension, a beating center that influences the nations of the earth. Just as the physical heart pumps life-giving blood to every part of the body, so the spiritual and governmental decisions made in this city flow outward to shape the destiny of America and ripple across the globe. The Bible declares that the first place of the altar is the heart. If we desire genuine revival, the heart must be ignited first. If God does not have your heart, He does not truly have you. In the same way, if God does not have Washington, D.C., He does not have the United States.

This is why the Lord has sovereignly set apart this city as the focal point of national repentance and rededication. On May 17, 2026 — exactly 250 years after the Continental Congress called the colonies to a day of humiliation, fasting, and prayer — the National Mall in the heart of Washington will host "Rededicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise & Thanksgiving." Thousands will gather on the very ground where the life of the nation is decided, to confess sin, renew covenant, and hand the country back to the Lord. This is not symbolism; it is spiritual surgery on the heart of America.

Consider the pattern set by Jesus Himself. Why did the Son of God have to finish His earthly ministry in Jerusalem? Jerusalem was the heart of Israel — the place where the Temple stood, where the altar of sacrifice burned, where the feasts were kept, and where the blood of the Passover lamb was shed. It was the city of divine appointment. Every prophet pointed toward it. The Messiah could not complete the work of redemption in a village or on a distant hillside; the final victory had to be won at the center. There, on the cross at Golgotha, the Lamb of God took away the sin of the world. There, in the empty tomb, death was defeated. From that heart — Jerusalem — life, forgiveness, and the Holy Spirit flowed out to the ends of the earth.

Washington, D.C. stands in a parallel place for this generation. It is the Jerusalem of the United States. Here the "temple" of our republic was established. Here the laws that govern 330 million souls are written. Here the eyes of the world turn for leadership. If the heart is sick, the whole body suffers. But if the heart is revived, life flows freely again. The enemy knows this. That is why battles over righteousness, justice, and biblical truth rage fiercest in this city — because whoever controls the heart controls the flow of life to the nation and to the nations.

Revelation 22:1–2
"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth… the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God… Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations."

God is not done with cities that carry covenantal purpose. Just as He is preparing a heavenly city whose foundation is the Lamb — where the pure river of life flows directly from His throne — He is calling the earthly city of Washington to realign with its original dedication. From this heart must flow the river of life that heals the nations. On May 17, 1776, the founders set aside this very calendar day for national repentance before God. Now, 250 years later, the Church stands at the same altar in the same city to renew that covenant so that life, not death, flows from the center.

This is the moment the President has helped hand the nation back to the Church — the true agent of the Kingdom on earth. The question echoes through the corridors of power and the prayer rooms of believers alike: Are we ready to steward this nation? What will flow out of Washington once the heart is fully given to God? Will the river of life — righteousness, justice, and the fear of the Lord — once again become the DNA of American life, bringing healing to our land and to the nations? Or will we allow the heart to harden again, inviting the very judgments the prophets warned Israel about?

The life of the nation truly does flow from this heart. Revival does not begin in the states or the churches alone — it must ignite first in Washington, D.C. As the blood flows from the heart to every limb, so must the Spirit and the river of life flow from this city to every corner of America and beyond. Let the altar be rebuilt here. Let the fires of repentance burn bright on the National Mall. Let the Church rise as watchmen on these walls and declare, "This city belongs to the Lord! Let the river flow!"

Washington, D.C. is not just a place on a map. It is the spiritual heart of a nation under God. The time to guard it, to cleanse it, and to rededicate it is now.

Day 5 · Washington D.C. Prayer Guide

As the seat of national authority, D.C. was birthed in prayer by Founding Fathers who opened Congress with Scripture and supplication. Today it stands at the epicenter of policy that has exported anti-biblical ideologies. We consecrate every heart in this city: repent of personal and national idols of power and compromise. Let the fear of the Lord return to every office, home, and church. Release D.C. from the spirit of Babylon's influence so it becomes a beacon of righteous governance again. For the next 50 years, raise 12 remnant leaders here who disciple the seven spheres from the capital outward.

Washington, D.C. is the planned capital of the United States, designed in the late 18th century by Pierre Charles L'Enfant as a symbolic embodiment of the young republic's ideals. Its neoclassical architecture draws heavily from ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian motifs. The city's monuments, buildings, and layout were intended tools of nation-building to project permanence, unity, and moral authority.

Key Places, Monuments & Their Spiritual Significance

Below is a curated list of the most important places, features, facilities, offices, and monuments in Washington, D.C.

1 Washington Monument (National Mall)
Factual

555-foot Egyptian-style obelisk (completed 1884) honoring George Washington, the "Father of His Country." It was the world's tallest structure when built and remains a central visual anchor of the National Mall. It symbolizes the nation's founding and Washington's leadership in the Revolutionary War and Constitution.

Spiritual Concern

The obelisk is an ancient Egyptian pagan symbol (phallus of Osiris/Baal, sun-worship marker) hijacked by Freemasons — many Founders were Masons — to embed occult energy in the capital. Its height (6,660 inches) is cited as near the "mark of the beast" (666); it allegedly channels demonic power, with the city layout forcing leaders to "face the obelisk" in worship.

Redemption

Redemption comes through national repentance, prayer, and re-dedication to biblical principles — reclaiming symbols for God rather than destruction.

2 U.S. Capitol Building (Capitol Hill)
Factual

Seat of Congress (legislative branch) since 1800. The dome (with Statue of Freedom atop) and neoclassical design (modeled on Roman Pantheon/temples) house lawmaking, inaugurations, and joint sessions.

Spiritual Concern

Roman dome/pediments and alleged Masonic symbols (e.g., cornucopia, allegorical statues) seen as pagan temple to fertility goddesses or Roman imperial power. Street layout allegedly forms inverted pentagrams or Masonic tools pointing to occult control of legislation.

Redemption

Prayer walks, congressional prayer breakfasts, and invoking the building's own biblical inscriptions (e.g., "In God We Trust"). Spiritual revival to align lawmaking with Judeo-Christian ethics.

3 White House (Executive Mansion)
Factual

President's residence and office since 1800; center of executive power.

Spiritual Concern

Part of Masonic-influenced L'Enfant plan; the geometric alignments with obelisk/Capitol as satanic grid for spiritual influence over presidents.

Redemption

Through faithful presidents invoking prayer (historical precedent) and national calls to "return to God."

4 Lincoln Memorial (National Mall)
Factual

Honors Abraham Lincoln; site of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. Features Lincoln's Gettysburg Address and Second Inaugural (referencing God and providence).

5 Jefferson Memorial (Tidal Basin)
Factual

Honors Thomas Jefferson; quotes from Declaration of Independence. Celebrates liberty, rights from Creator, and pursuit of happiness. Destiny: America as an enlightened republic guided by reason and divine endowment of rights.

Spiritual Concern

Neoclassical dome seen as Roman/pagan temple form.

Redemption

Jefferson quotes explicitly affirm God-given liberty; reclaim via education on founding principles.

6 National Mall & Reflecting Pool (with WWII, Vietnam, Korean War Memorials)
Factual

2-mile green space linking monuments; honors sacrifices in wars.

Spiritual Concern

Overall layout encodes occult geometry (e.g., pentagrams, Masonic symbols).

Redemption

Memorials honor human cost; spiritual renewal through honoring God in remembrance.

7 Supreme Court Building
Factual

Home of the judicial branch; neoclassical with "Equal Justice Under Law."

Spiritual Concern

Roman law/pagan motifs.

Redemption

Justices often cite biblical moral foundations; pray for righteous rulings.

Other key facilities/offices: Pentagon (nearby, military command — destiny of strength/protection); Library of Congress and National Archives (preserve knowledge/rights); Smithsonian museums (cultural/scientific leadership).

Why Egyptian and Roman Symbols Everywhere (Including the Capitol and Washington Monument)?

Signs that the city was covenanted to the gods of Egypt and Rome.

  • Roman/Greek: Founders explicitly modeled the republic on Rome's Senate, checks/balances, and Greek democracy to legitimize the new nation as heir to virtuous antiquity. Capitol dome and pediments directly reference the Pantheon and classical temples.
  • Egyptian (obelisk): 19th-century Egyptomania made obelisks fashionable symbols of permanence and power (used by Romans too). The Monument's designer simplified an earlier elaborate plan for practicality and grandeur. Why did they not put a cross and instead put an Egyptian symbol?

Prophecies About D.C./America (If No Godly Altars Are Raised for DC)

The United States (with D.C. as political heart, New York as economic) as fulfilling aspects of Mystery Babylon in Revelation 17–18: a wealthy superpower influencing global culture, commerce, and (allegedly) immorality, ultimately judged. America will be as the "lamb-like beast" of Revelation 13 (peaceful but later coercive). The symbols allegedly allow demonic influence by blending pagan imagery with power centers, steering America's destiny from biblical "city on a hill" to empire-like corruption or end-times Babylon. "Redemption" in those views involves:

  • National repentance and revival (2 Chronicles 7:14).
  • Prayer/prophetic acts over sites.
  • Reclaiming or removing overt pagan echoes while honoring the Christian inscriptions already present (e.g., "Laus Deo," Bible stones, "In God We Trust").
  • Spiritual warfare to break alleged strongholds.

Prophetic Declarations for May 17

As Joshua Declared Over Jericho (Joshua 6:26) — on this day, May 17, 2026, as Joshua after the fall of Jericho, we rise in the authority of the Lord and declare:

The Joshua Declaration

"Cursed before the Lord be every system, agenda, leader and structure that seeks to rebuild the strongholds of darkness in this nation! Let every foundation laid in rebellion against God collapse. Let every gate erected by the enemy to defy the Lord be broken down at the cost of its own evil seed. This nation shall not be rebuilt as Babylon, but as a city set on a hill whose light cannot be hidden!"

Just as Joshua pronounced judgment so that Jericho would stand as a monument to God's victory and not man's defiance, so we declare on this 250th anniversary rededication: America will not be rebuilt according to the blueprints of the enemy in the next 50 years.

1 · Declaration of Covenant Renewal · Joshua 24:15, 25

"On this day, May 17, as our fathers did in 1776, we choose this day whom we will serve. We declare: As for America and the Church within her, we will serve the Lord! Every idol of this land — sexual immorality, greed, humanism, and occult foundations — is cast down. The altars of Baal and Asherah are torn down. The Word of the Lord is exalted once again in the White House, the halls of Congress, the courts, and the streets. This is a new Gilgal moment (Joshua 5) — the reproach of Egypt is rolled away, and a new generation is circumcised in heart before the Lord."

2 · Declaration Over Washington D.C. — The Heart of the Nation

"Washington, D.C., you are the heart of this nation. Today we command you: Beat only for the King of kings! Let the river of the water of life flow from the throne of God through this city (Revelation 22:1–2), bringing healing to the nations. No longer will death, deception, or division flow from this heart. Righteousness will exalt this capital. The leaves of the tree of life shall be for the healing of America and the nations influenced by her."

3 · Declaration Against the Plans of the Enemy

"Every LGBTQ agenda that wars against God's design, every beast system that seeks to control, every scheme to devalue the dollar and enslave the people, every 'no king' rebellion against the true King — Jesus Christ, every anti-biblical law, and every point of Alice Bailey's charter and the like — we declare them frustrated and nullified in the name of Jesus Christ! As the Continental Congress prayed in 1776, so we pray and declare: Let God arise and let His enemies be scattered. The peace and freedom of America shall be established upon a solid and lasting foundation in Christ."

4 · Declaration of the Church's Stewardship · Ezekiel 9:6

"Church of America, arise! The President has helped hand this nation back into your hands. We declare: You shall steward it with faithfulness, not fear! If judgment comes, it begins at the house of God (Ezekiel 9:6), but if revival comes, it also begins here. We will not allow the next generation of leaders to reverse this rededication. America shall not become the Babylon of this age. Instead, she shall be a beacon of light, a voice of truth, and a blessing to the nations."

5 · Declaration of Healing and Destiny · Revelation 22:1–2 & 2 Chronicles 7:14

"On this May 17, we humble ourselves, pray, seek God's face, and turn from our wicked ways. Therefore, God will hear from heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land. The river of life now flows from Washington, D.C. The tree of life stands on both sides, bearing fruit every month. The leaves are for the healing of the nations. America's best and holiest days are not behind her — they are ahead!"

6 · Final Jubilee Declaration · Leviticus 25

"This is the Year of Jubilee! Captives are set free. Debts are cancelled in the spirit. Land is restored to its rightful Owner — the Lord. On this 250th anniversary, America returns to her first love. She returns to her covenant with God. She rises as One Nation Under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all — under the Lordship of Jesus Christ."

7 · We Receive the Spiritual Mantles

We receive the spiritual mantles in all spheres of life for the next 50 years.

Speak these declarations boldly on May 17 and beyond. Let them be proclaimed from the National Mall, from every state, from every church, and from every home. What Joshua declared in faith after victory, let the Church declare in faith as we rededicate this nation.

May 17 is not just a date — it is a divine reset. The same God who honored the fast and prayers of 1776 will honor the repentance and declarations of 2026.

Let the river flow. Let the healing begin. Let America be His again.
