People of the Mountains, Rise as Salt and Light. Beehive State of rugged mountains, Mormon pioneer legacy, and Olympic spirit. Strong family values and tech growth in the Salt Lake Valley. Today rapid change and cultural crossroads.
We consecrate the state of Utah, her people group, families and the USA to God for the next 50 years: We repent of religious form without Spirit and hidden idolatry. Deliver from self-sufficiency apart from God. Establish Utah as a Western hive of industry, family restoration, and remnant purity for the next 50 years.

Establishing and Cultivating Godly Worship Systems
Week 7 (June 25–July 1): Establishing and Cultivating Godly Worship Systems in Individual Lives, Families, Churches, Counties, States, and the Nation (Jeremiah 1:10; Matthew 12:43-44).
This week centers on building and planting for the Godly worship system for the entire nation while lifting each state daily. Today we intercede specifically for Utah and dedicate the year 2070 within the coming five decades to its redemptive role. Last week emphasized alignment with 2030 horizons; Week 5 confronted evil worship systems through prophetic and apostolic intercession. Every evil system features a false god, altar, priests, sacrifices, and covenants. True freedom requires dismantling what binds people (Matthew 12:29; 2 Corinthians 4:3-5). Moses confronted Egypt's evil worship structures, releasing Israel into promise. Similarly, today various people groups, states, and the nation face entrenched evil systems. After tearing down and uprooting these, we build and plant the Abrahamic godly worship system this week across lives, families, churches, cities, counties, states, and the nation.
The Raising the 12 initiative serves as a contemporary expression of Jesus' discipleship model. It calls forth a new priesthood — believers willing to be trained in God's present activity (John 5:17, 19), to stand in the gap (Ezekiel 22:30), to connect remnants, embrace new wineskins, pursue a Nazarite separation, and consecrate themselves as a faithful few for divine purposes.
Family Foundations in Utah: Current Realities Versus America's Origins
America's founding families drew strength from biblical covenants, covenant marriage, multi-generational faith transmission, and clear gender roles rooted in Scripture. Utah today reflects partial resilience yet mirrors national erosion. The state maintains one of the nation's highest marriage rates, with many children still raised in two-parent homes, but trends show later marriages, rising never-married rates (around 28.8% for women by recent data), and divorce rates that, while declining slightly, hover near or above national averages in some metrics (e.g., around 10% in recent peaks for certain cohorts).
What disciples families in Utah now? Secular culture, media, education systems promoting individualism, and shifting religious adherence — particularly declining LDS influence — fill the void. Families have transformed through increased divorce, normalization of same-sex marriage (Utah has thousands of same-sex couple households, with married same-sex couples comprising under 1% of total married couples but growing), gender confusion ideologies in schools and media, and abortion's toll. These erode stability: divorce fragments legacies; same-sex marriage and gender fluidity challenge God's design for family (Genesis 1-2); abortion ends lives and wounds parents, with Utah reporting thousands of procedures annually (e.g., over 3,000 in earlier peak years, though rates remain relatively low nationally post-Dobbs).
When foundations crumble (Psalm 11:3), the righteous must arise: rebuild altars of prayer in homes, disciple children in truth, advocate for policies upholding biblical marriage and life, and model covenant faithfulness.
Historical Revivals and Utah's Role
Early American revivals, especially the Second Great Awakening, profoundly shaped the nation's spiritual landscape through camp meetings, emotional preaching, and calls to holiness, birthing movements including the Latter-day Saint tradition that settled Utah. These revivals emphasized personal conversion and societal reform. Utah's pioneers carried religious zeal, establishing communities centered on faith, though distinct from broader evangelical awakenings. In the Second Revolutionary War for spiritual liberty, Utah is called to reclaim its pioneering spirit — standing as a "beehive" of industry, family, and moral order against captivity, mirroring its historical resilience.
Current Spiritual Climate in Utah
Utah's atmosphere mixes strong residual Christian (primarily LDS) heritage with rising secularism. The "nones" (religiously unaffiliated) stand around 34%, with LDS identification dropping to approximately 42-50% in recent surveys. Other Christians (evangelicals, Catholics, etc.) make up smaller shares. Anti-biblical laws and policies advance in areas like abortion access expansions in some contexts, LGBTQ+ rights, and secular humanism in education and culture. Abortion numbers: Utah performs several thousand annually (e.g., recent estimates around 5,000+), lower per capita than many states but still representing lost potential. Same-sex marriages number in the thousands of households.
Witchcraft and High Places: Occult presence exists with pagan communities, covens, and shops in areas like Salt Lake City; natural sites like "The Witches" rock formations evoke folklore. No singular "chief witch" dominates publicly, but decentralized pagan networks operate. High places include cultural and entertainment hubs.
Idols per Timothy Keller: Common heart idols — approval, success, comfort, control, power — manifest in Utah through family reputation (in tight-knit communities), material prosperity from industry/outdoor lifestyle, and religious performance.
Religions: LDS dominant but declining; Protestants, Catholics ~4-6% each; nones rising; smaller Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, and other groups.
Most Committed Sins and Strongholds: Idolatry of tradition/religion over relationship with Christ, sexual immorality, materialism, and family/achievement idolatry. Causes include cultural shifts, media influence, and compromised discipleship. Biblical strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4-5) involve deception, division, and quenching the Spirit. Lifestyle: Outdoorsy, family-oriented, industrious, yet increasingly influenced by secular entertainment, tech, and tourism.
Leadership as Priests: Utah leans conservative Republican (Governor Spencer Cox, strong GOP legislature), yet influential figures and policies show moderation or progressive pressures in urban areas. Founding figures shaped covenant vision; today's influencers (politicians, business leaders, entertainers) pull toward prosperity, entertainment, or compromise. Most influential figure: Often tied to state leadership or cultural icons like those in film. The most prominent festival is the Sundance Film Festival (historically January in Park City), championing independent cinema; it shaped creative culture, opening "portals" of influence in arts/media during winter (a season of introspection and accessibility in spiritual terms). The Church should reclaim such months as altar seasons for prayer and cultural engagement.
Realigning to God's Destiny: Tearing the Veil Through Prayer Webs
In the 50 Days • 50 States • 50 Years campaign, we contend for Utah to fulfill its pioneering, industrious, family-strong destiny in America's spiritual renewal. We build a prayer web linking all counties, forming a statewide canopy to tear the veil blinding people groups, youth, and the state. This veil includes religious formalism, secular humanism, occult influences, family breakdown, and cultural distractions that divide and quench the Holy Spirit. Revival awaits its rending.
Different People Groups in Utah
Approximate recent percentages: Non-Hispanic White ~72-75%; Hispanic/Latino ~14-17%; Asian ~2.5-3%; Black ~1.3%; Native American ~1%; Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander ~1%; Two or more races ~5-8%. Major idols vary: achievement/family honor among traditional groups; cultural assimilation pressures or materialism among immigrants; identity/activism among youth.
✦ The Prayer for Utah ✦
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the Architect of nations and the Creator of every mountain and valley, we come boldly before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We thank You for the faithful saints who have stood as watchmen on the walls of America during this 50 Days, 50 States Prayer Campaign. Today we lift up the great state of Utah — the Beehive State, the land of endurance, revelation, and spiritual elevation.
Utah, your very name comes from the Ute people, the Native tribes of this region, and it speaks prophetically: "People of the Mountains." Hallelujah! God designed your rugged terrain of vast deserts, towering peaks, and the majestic Great Salt Lake according to His purpose. Mountains symbolize divine strength, stability, and elevation. Deserts speak of places where only the persevering thrive. The Great Salt Lake reminds us of salt — the preservative, the flavor-giver, the melter of ice, and the source of strength.
Just as the Mormon pioneers (Latter-day Saints), led by Brigham Young after the martyrdom of Joseph Smith, trekked across the wilderness and declared "This is the right place" upon arriving in the Salt Lake Valley on July 24, 1847, so this land carries a legacy of perseverance, industry, and communal cooperation. You became the 45th state on January 4, 1896. Your motto is "Industry," and your symbol, the beehive, reflects hard work, unity, and resilience in a harsh environment — qualities the early settlers embodied as they irrigated deserts and built communities.
Prophetically, Utah, you are called to be a land of wrestling and breakthrough prayer (Genesis 32:24-30 — Jacob at Peniel). You carry a mantle of travailing, prevailing intercession and endurance. Like the honeybee, the Church in Utah must work in unison, not in isolation or denominational division. You are to produce sons and daughters of God who persevere until breakthrough. You are salt (Matthew 5:13) — called to preserve sound doctrine in a time when many no longer endure it but turn to teachers who tickle itching ears (2 Timothy 4:3-4). You are to restore biblical truth, flavor the nation with the pure Gospel, and melt the hardness of hearts.
Utah, with a population of approximately 3.5 million, you have a young, growing demographic. Racially, you are predominantly White (around 74-75% non-Hispanic White), with growing Hispanic/Latino (about 17%), Asian, Black, Native American, Pacific Islander, and multiracial communities. We pray for all people groups within your borders — that every tribe and tongue encounters the true Jesus Christ.
We stand in the gap for Utah: Do not miss your visitation in this season of Jubilee and automatic release! Return to your inheritance and redemptive destiny. Break free from every spiritual bondage. The foundations shaped by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) have deeply influenced your culture, laws, and values, with Salt Lake City as its global headquarters. While many send missionaries worldwide and emphasize family and industry, there are doctrinal differences from historic biblical Christianity (views on the nature of God, the completeness of Scripture, additional texts like the Book of Mormon, and the idea of humans becoming gods). We pray for a mighty move of the Holy Spirit that levels every mountain of deception and releases true revelation of Jesus Christ as the only way, truth, and life.
Current spiritual climate includes a strong LDS presence (though no longer an absolute majority in self-identification for some recent surveys), alongside growing evangelical prayer movements and intercession targeting influence within the state. Challenges remain: humanism, cultural shifts, moral issues including abortion and same-sex marriage (legalized nationally in 2015, with thousands of same-sex couple households recorded in the 2020 Census — around 8,673 total same-sex couples in Utah, many married). Abortion numbers have fluctuated, with recent reports showing several thousand procedures annually (e.g., over 4,000 in some recent years), shedding innocent blood that cries out to God.
We repent on behalf of Utah and America for national sins: the shedding of innocent blood, sexual immorality, gender confusion, idolatry, and every abomination that defiles the land.
(Jeremiah 1:10; Matthew 12:29, 43-44; Mark 16:17-18; Exodus 12:12; Deuteronomy 7:1-5; 1 Kings 18:40; Hebrews 7:12; Isaiah 25:7-8):
In the name of Jesus Christ, we arise in spiritual authority. We uproot, tear down, destroy, and overthrow every demonic altar, evil covenant, false worship system, and veil of deception covering Utah, its people groups, and the nation. We dethrone every god of this state — spirits of religious deception, doctrinal error, abortion (spirit of death), sexual immorality, gender confusion, humanism, and mammon. We call for God's judgment upon them. We dismantle all evil altars, confuse and spiritually slaughter the priesthood of darkness, destroy every evil sacrifice by the blood of the Lamb, and declare all ungodly covenants null and void.
We bind the strongman and plunder his house! The veil is lifted — let the people see the glory of the true and living God!
Planting and Building
Now we plant and build a godly worship system in Utah. Let pure worship arise! Let the true Church of Jesus Christ — built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ as the Chief Cornerstone — flourish. Raise up intercessors who wrestle like Jacob until they see God face to face. Birth a persevering, industrious, unified army of believers who operate like a beehive for the Kingdom: working together, enduring hardship, preserving sound doctrine, and sending forth salt and light across America and the nations.
