ADULLAM MINISTRIES

Introduction

Adullam Ministries encompasses both the Adullam Prayer Center, a vibrant church community, and the Adullam Educational Center, a dedicated school for children

School Background:

Adullam Ministries is a Christ-centered organization that brings together the Adullam Prayer Center, a vibrant church community, and the Adullam Educational Center, a school dedicated to serving children in need. Our mission is to minister to the physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs of disadvantaged and vulnerable children, especially those who come from broken, impoverished, or abusive backgrounds. Many of the children we care for are orphans, victims of HIV, or come from single-parent homes, families affected by alcoholism, or households led by elderly guardians with little or no income. Some have parents who are unable—or unwilling—to provide the basic necessities of life, let alone nurture their wellbeing or value their education.

At Adullam Educational Center, we provide more than just education—we offer tangible expressions of Christ’s love through care, support, and mentorship. We serve children from the Luwero District and beyond, many of whom live below the poverty line, suffering from hunger, disease, abuse, and neglect. Our holistic approach teaches the head, heart, and hands, equipping children to become self-reliant and confident in their identity and purpose. Our ultimate goal is to transform lives by addressing their immediate physical needs while nurturing their spiritual growth and empowering them with education and life skills for a hopeful future.

Current School Overview

  • Sanitary Facilities: One pit latrine with 7 stances (in fair condition).

  • Teaching Staff: 10 teachers and 2 non-teaching staff.

  • Enrollment: 100 pupils currently enrolled.

  • Accommodation: Two small dormitories (one for boys and one for girls).

  • Classrooms: 6 large and 4 small classrooms—none are cemented; some have windows and doors, others do not.

  • Water: Water is drawn from a shallow well (not clean or safe for drinking).

  • Feeding: We have no farmland. We buy food (usually maize flour and beans), but it’s often insufficient. Many children only have porridge (without sugar) for breakfast.

  • Uniforms: Most children lack uniforms, shoes, or have very old clothing.

  • Scholastic Materials: Pens, books, and pencils are in short supply.

Achievements

Providing basic education in a parish with over 5,000 children and only one overcrowded government school.

  • Employing 15 individuals, helping improve local livelihoods.

  • Sponsoring three teachers for in-service training.

  • Acquiring more classroom furniture.

  • Constructing two permanent buildings with eight classrooms.

Challenges

  •  Expensive cost of hiring and retaining trained teachers.

  • No school van for transportation.

  • Inadequate permanent classroom infrastructure.

  • Rising prices of food and scholastic materials.

  • Children walking long distances to school.

  • Lack of Christian-trained teachers.

  • High costs of caring for pupils and maintaining staff.

  • Children sleeping without beds, mattresses, blankets, or mosquito nets.

  • Lack of teachers’ accommodation.

  • Absence of septic tank (relying on a basic latrine).

  • Children without uniforms, bags, or shoes.

Our Vision Forward

To better serve our children and community, we aim to:

  1. Train more Christian teachers through in-service programs.

  2. Construct and renovate more classrooms and build teacher housing.

  3. Replace the pit latrine with a proper septic toilet system.

  4. Install rainwater harvesting systems for clean water.

  5. Solicit donations (cash and in-kind) for food, development, and salaries.

  6. Acquire land to grow food crops.

  7. Purchase a school vehicle and a heavy-duty printer/photocopier.

  8. Affiliate with better-resourced schools for mentorship and support.

Cost Breakdown

  • Constructing one classroom: UGX 15 million (~$4,000)

  • Renovating a classroom: UGX 4 million (~$1,000)

  • Monthly food costs: UGX 2.6 million (~$700)

  • Monthly salaries for 15 staff: UGX 5.5 million (~$1,500)

How You Can Help

We invite you to share the love of Christ with these precious children through one-time, monthly, termly, or annual donations.

  • $200 per child per term (4 months)

  • $600 per child per year

Your generosity helps provide education, food, shelter, and hope to a child in desperate need.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
— Matthew 25:40
“Some women were helping to support them out of their own means.” — Luke 8:3

God loves a cheerful giver. Thank you for being a part of this mission of love.
